Why Mediterranean = Healthy

Seven years running,
the healthiest diet on earth.

The Mediterranean diet has been ranked the #1 healthiest diet by U.S. News & World Report for eight consecutive years. The Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health found it reduces cardiovascular disease risk by roughly 30%. That is not marketing. That is peer-reviewed science. And it is exactly how Aladdin has cooked since 2006.

01

Real olive oil,
not seed oils.

Every dish at Aladdin is cooked in 100% extra-virgin olive oil. No canola. No soybean. No corn. The single biggest difference between our kitchen and almost every other restaurant in Houston.

02

Grilled over
open flame.

Our chicken, lamb, beef, and kafta are flame-grilled — not fried, not braised in heavy sauces. Vegetables are hand-chopped and grilled or served raw. Less oil, more flavor, cleaner fat profile.

03

Whole foods,
no shortcuts.

Nothing processed. Nothing frozen. Nothing shortcut. Fresh parsley chopped every morning. Tahini stone-ground. Hummus made same-day. That is how they cooked in Lebanon. That is how we cook in Houston.

A Houston story, since 2006

Forty years,
two locations,
one family recipe.

Ali Nahhas came to Houston from Lebanon in 2000 carrying his mother's recipes and a conviction that fresh food cooked slowly was worth the effort. He opened Aladdin Mediterranean Cuisine on Westheimer Road in 2006, and added a second location at Garden Oaks on West 34th Street in 2018 — both still family-owned.

What you will eat at Aladdin today is what Ali's mother cooked for Sunday lunch in Beirut. Same olive oil. Same herbs. Same charcoal fire. That is not a marketing story. That is the recipe.

Our kitchens are run by the same family that started them. The tahini is stone-ground in-house. The pita is baked daily. The parsley for our tabouli is chopped the morning it is served. The lamb is carved by hand.

One family. Two locations. Forty years of not cutting corners.

Frequently Asked

Answers
worth knowing.

Is Mediterranean food really healthy?

Yes. The Mediterranean diet has been named the #1 healthiest diet in the U.S. News & World Report rankings for 8 consecutive years (2018–2025). The 2013 PREDIMED study from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health found that a Mediterranean diet rich in extra-virgin olive oil reduces cardiovascular disease risk by approximately 30%. At Aladdin, every dish is built on the core Mediterranean principles: extra-virgin olive oil, fresh vegetables, whole grains, legumes, and lean grilled proteins.

What is the healthiest thing on Aladdin's menu in Houston?

Our Saffron Chicken Kebab served with Quinoa Salad and Grilled Vegetables is our most nutritionally complete healthy meal — approximately 620 calories with 48g of lean protein, 32g of complex carbohydrates, and 22g of fat (mostly from extra-virgin olive oil). It delivers a complete amino acid profile, anti-inflammatory fats, and a full serving of vegetables in one plate.

Is the food at Aladdin halal?

Yes. Every meat dish at both Aladdin Houston locations — Montrose and Garden Oaks — is halal-certified. We source from trusted halal butchers in Houston. The full chicken, lamb, beef, and kafta menu is halal.

Does Aladdin offer vegan and plant-based options?

Yes — dozens. A fully vegan meal at Aladdin includes Falafel, Hummus, Baba Ghanoush, Tabouli, Fattoush, Lentil Salad, Chickpea Salad, Grilled Vegetables, and Roasted Cauliflower. The entire dip, salad, and vegetable menu is plant-based. We can build a 100% vegan catering menu on request.

Do you cater healthy events in Houston?

Yes. Aladdin caters corporate lunches, weddings, hospital events, and family gatherings across Houston and the surrounding metro area. We can build a fully vegan, gluten-free, heart-healthy, or keto-friendly menu on request. Call (713) 942-2321 for a custom catering quote or visit our catering page.

Do you deliver healthy food in Houston?

Yes. Both Aladdin locations deliver through Toast Delivery and DoorDash across most of Houston — including Montrose, Heights, Midtown, Museum District, River Oaks, Rice Village, Downtown, and the Galleria. Order online directly from aladdinshouston.com for the fastest turnaround.

Where are the Aladdin Mediterranean locations in Houston?

Aladdin Mediterranean Cuisine has two Houston locations. The Montrose location is at 912 Westheimer Rd, Houston, TX 77006 (phone 713-942-2321), open daily. The Garden Oaks location is at 1737 W 34th St, Houston, TX 77018 (phone 713-681-6257), open daily.

What is the difference between Mediterranean food and Middle Eastern food?

Mediterranean cuisine refers to the cooking traditions of countries around the Mediterranean Sea — including Greek, Italian, Spanish, Lebanese, Syrian, Turkish, and North African. Middle Eastern is a subset focused on the Levant (Lebanon, Syria, Palestine, Jordan). Lebanese food — which is what Aladdin serves — belongs to both traditions. That is why it shows up in both "Mediterranean" and "Middle Eastern" Houston searches.
